Wahrscheinlich gibt es Einfacheres, als ein Familienweingut an der Mosel zu übernehmen. Aber genauso wie die Rebstöcke in unseren Steillagen bin ich tief mit meiner Heimat verwurzelt. Steillagenwinzer sind Helden, sagte schon mein Großvater. Und wenn ich im steilen Hang des Niederberg-Helden stehe, spüre ich genau das: nämlich Stolz. Die Welt um uns verändert sich, aber die Mosel und ihre Hänge verändern sich nicht so schnell. Diese Beständigkeit lebt unsere Familie seit Jahrzehnten. Betrachtet man das Etikett unserer Flaschen genauer, und zwar schräg von der Seite, erkennt man die Profile dreier Generationen. Das meines Großvaters, meines Vaters und das von mir. Alle drei markant, genau wie die Landschaft, genau wie unsere Weine.
There is probably something simpler than taking over a family winery on the Moselle. But just like the vines in the steep slopes, I am deeply rooted in my homeland. Vintners who work on steep slopes are heroes, as my grandfather said. And when I stand on the steep slope of Niederberg Helden, I feel exactly that: namely pride. The world around us is changing, but the Moselle and its slopes are not changing so fast. Our family lives this stability for decades. If you take a closer look at the labels of our bottles, obliquely from the side, you can see the profiles of three generations. That of my grandfather, my father and mine. All three distinctive, just like our homeland, like our wines.
Die Mosel, die Schieferböden und die Steilhänge sind die Basis meines Schaffens. In Stein gemeißelt ist dennoch nichts. Ich will den Menschen Weine mit Identität bieten. Moseltypisch, von meinen Erfahrungen und der Auseinandersetzung mit der Tradition meiner Familie geprägt. Klar wie Quellwasser, präzise, straff und mit viel Trinkfluss - typisch Pauly.
The Moselle, the slate soils and the steep slopes are the basis of my work. But nothing is set in stone. I want to offer people wines with identity: typical of the Moselle, shaped by my experiences and the confrontation with my own tradition. Clear as spring water, light, tasty - typical Pauly.
